Google Unveils Veo and Imagen 3 AI Models for Generative Applications
Wednesday, Dec 4, 2024

Google Cloud has introduced two advanced generative AI models, Veo and Imagen 3, on its Vertex AI platform. This move comes amidst reports of booming revenue among businesses utilizing the technology.
According to data from Google Cloud, 86% of businesses deploying generative AI in their operations have noticed a rise in revenue, averaging around a 6% increase.
This encouraging statistic has spurred Google to innovate further, resulting in the release of Veo, a cutting-edge video generation model, and Imagen 3, an enhanced text-to-image creation tool.
Veo, available for private preview on Vertex AI, marks a milestone as Google is now the first major cloud provider to offer an image-to-video model. This technology allows companies to create high-quality videos from basic text or image prompts, which could transform video production processes across sectors.
Imagen 3, set for release to all Vertex AI customers next week, promises unmatched realism in generated images with significant improvements in detail, lighting, and artifact reduction. It offers new features for selected enterprise users, including advanced editing tools and brand customization options.
Several large companies have already started integrating these innovations into their work processes.
Mondelez International, known for brands like Oreo, Cadbury, and Chips Ahoy!, is utilizing the technology to speed up the creation of campaign materials for its brands globally.
Jon Halvorson, SVP of Consumer Experience & Digital Commerce at Mondelez International, shared: “Our partnership with Google Cloud has been key in leveraging generative AI, especially through Imagen 3, to transform content production.
“This technology has allowed us to create a vast array of customized assets, boosting creative standards while also significantly reducing time to market and costs.”
The knowledge-sharing platform Quora has developed Poe, a system that allows users to engage with generative AI models. Veo and Imagen are now part of Poe’s offerings.
Spencer Chan, Product Lead for Poe at Quora, noted: “We built Poe to make top-tier generative AI models accessible to everyone. With Veo, we're now empowering millions of users to bring their visions to life with breathtaking, high-quality generative videos.”
In light of concerns surrounding AI-generated content, Google has embedded robust safety features in both models. These include:
The introduction of these new models underscores Google’s expanding role in the enterprise AI arena and indicates a trend toward more sophisticated, integrated AI solutions for business use.
